- About CuCuu

1. Who designs and makes CuCuu products? ↑ top
CuCuu is the work of one person, designer and artist Rebecca Paterson. Rebecca personally designs and makes every product individually. During busy times a volunteer is available to help with basic sewing, though the items are always finished by Rebecca.
2. Are CuCuu products eco-friendly? ↑ top
CuCuu products are created from a variety of recycled materials procured from a number trustworthy sources (see #3).
Sometimes suitable second hand components (jewellery findings, poppers, zips, clips, thread, ribbon, decorative beads and stringing materials) are not available, only then do I buy new to maintain the high quality of our products.
3. Where do materials for the CuCuu products come from? ↑ top
Friends and family donate their old clothes/curtains/cushions/buttons/beads etc. Some items are bought locally from second hand clothing shops. Occasionally scraps and remnants of fabrics that would have otherwise been thrown away are used. A lot of the materials are sourced from a local charity scrap shop that recycles materials that have been thrown out from shops, businesses and the general public such as old theatre drapes, window dressing materials and scraps from kilt makers.
Any components (jewellery findings, poppers, zips, clips, thread, beads and stringing materials) that are bought new are sourced locally where possible.

1. How can I buy a CuCuu product? ↑ top
You can buy CuCuu products from this website, from the regular events we attend and from retail outlets we supply.
To make a purchase through this website simply browse the site, add products to your basket then checkout and pay via our Paypal payment gateway.
CuCuu only sells unique products, therefore a product is removed from the shop when added to a customer's basket (so two users don't have the same product in their baskets). To ensure that a product is replaced in the store if a user adds it to their basket but does not buy it we introduced a product timeout - each item added to your basket will automatically remove itself and return to the shop if it is not purchased within 45 mins of adding. Once a product has returned to the shop anyone can buy it.
An up-to-date list of the events CuCuu are attending can be found on this website alongside a list of current retail outlets we are supplying.
Join our mailing list to receive periodic updates about news and forthcoming events.
2. How are CuCuu products packaged? ↑ top
We try to recycle packing where possible e.g. reusing old jiffy bags with as little plastic tape as possible. However, in order for your purchases to arrive in the best possible condition we do use some plastic packing, where necessary, to protect from knocks and water damage. The bubble wrap I use is non-toxic Bio-Bubble® which is 100% oxo-biodegradable. Bio-Bubble has shelf life of 1 year and breaks down naturally once exposed to environmental factors such as oxygen, light, and mechanical stress.
The grey plastic mail sacks I use are 'Enviro Bags' that are 100% bio-degradable after 1 year and made from a minimum of 35% recycled material.
3. Where do you deliver, and how much does it cost? ↑ top
CuCuu post to anywhere in the world. The postage price includes a small amount for packaging costs. We try to keep these costs as low as possible and will always recycle packaging where possible.
CuCuu use Royal Mail signed for delivery, look here for more details about delivery, including costs.
4. Is this site secure? ↑ top
CuCuu uses PayPal for payments. PayPal automatically encrypts your confidential information in transit from your computer to ours using the Secure Sockets Layer protocol (SSL) with an encryption key length of 128-bits, the highest level commercially available.
Outside of the Paypal payment process you will not be asked for any confidential information. No registration or account is required to use this site.
5. Do I need a Paypal account to purchase from CuCuu? ↑ top
No, you are not required to have a PayPal account to purchase from this store. Although if you already have a PayPal account you may use it.
6. What forms of payment do you accept? ↑ top

- CuCuu Product Care
-
1.How can I remove marks from a Cucuu product? ↑ top
It is recommended to carefully remove any marks with a damp (not wet) cloth. Some products may be suitable to hand wash very carefully in COLD water but CuCuu cannot be held responsible for any damage that occurs during this process.
2. Can I machine wash a CuCuu product? ↑ top
It is not recommended to machine wash any CuCu products due to the random mixtures of fabric colour and type. Colours may run and some fabrics might shrink or react badly to high temperatures.
3. Dry Cleaning? ↑ top
If you decide, at your own risk, to get any CuCuu product dry-cleaned, please ask the dry-cleaning expert about the suitability of the particular item before going ahead with the process, it would be a good idea to mention that some of the fabrics may be vintage (more than 20 years old).
4. Cuff and badge care? ↑ top
CuCuu cuffs and badges are stiffened with vilene and can be carefully ironed to re-stiffen the structure if it starts to curl or become floppy. Please be warned that some of the fabrics will melt or burn quickly under high heat so it is recommended to use a very low heat and to cover the item with a clean tea-towel or similar fabric to protect it while ironing. Do not apply heat for too long. Again CuCuu cannot be held responsible for any damage that occurs when ironing our products.
